If you wish to baptize your child, please contact Father at Shimit.AbrahamCFIC@caedm.ca in order to set an appointment with him. Baptism of children is never refused when parents or legal guardians request this sacrament. The steps to have your child baptized are the following:
1. Meet with Father
During this meeting, Father will go over the meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism, and will help parents understand their responsibility as primary educators of the child in the ways of faith. This will also be an opportunity to discuss who can be a godparent, and what will happen during the Rite of Baptism.
2. Set a day for the baptism
In our parishes, baptisms are usually celebrated during Sunday Mass in order to encourage the family and friends of the child who is to be baptized to attend Sunday Mass. Before you set a day for the baptism of your child, please speak to Father in order to make sure there are no conflicts.
3. Provide us with some documents
We will need a copy of the birth certificate of the child, as well as a completed and signed copy of the Baptism of a Child Form.
